Kelly LaFarge

Author Artist

Kelly’s heart is most touched by plants, flowers, agriculture, and children. God’s beautiful world is where Kelly finds inspiration. Reared in Indiana, surrounded by farming, she witnessed the significance of plants for animals and humans. Mother Nature’s lessons of changing season colors, organic shapes, and an abundance of textures schooled her in artistic expression. Her ideal day is in the studio painting, writing and reading—balanced by outdoor time with her two dogs, six horses, and one donkey. She keeps busy reading about mindful living, creating artistic storytelling, and she loves a good eco-friendly craft. Kelly’s writings and art have appeared in Glo Magazine, Red River Kids Magazine, School Arts Magazine, and in newspapers. Her art was commissioned and chosen to hang in the Texas Christian University Education Complex by the Mabee Foundation. Kelly’s book, Herbaria: A Guide for Young People was awarded The Council on Botanical and Horticultural Libraries Award of Excellence for Children & Young Adults in 2022.
